Good morning, Wimblers! Autumn is upon us. The weather has taken a turn, and in classic London fashion, there has been rain. And there will be more rain to come. But fret not! The summer may be over, but autumn is gearing up in SW19. We’ve got Sustainable September, the BookFest, and Winterfest to look forward to. I’d also like to take this chance to announce that we’ll be publishing another Wimble print edition this winter, so keep your eyes peeled for updates on that.
This week we’ve got your usual news snippets, some great recommendations for the days ahead and another lovely property of the week. For this edition’s feature, we’re doing a rundown list of all the best new openings in Wimbledon since April. Scroll down to see what’s new.
Do get in touch if you have any ideas or potential stories: zak@thewimble.com.
Happy reading!

🎉 Huddle is expanding in Wimbledon Quarter! Another Huddle — which provides coworking spaces, private offices and meeting rooms — will be moving into the Grade II listed Old Town Hall. The new space will offer additional private offices and meeting rooms to support their growing member base at The Old Fire Station, all while remaining part of Wimbledon Quarter. If you’re not familiar with Huddle, then check out our article on them here.
🏏 Merton residents of all ages are going to benefit from £100k of grants awarded to 19 local community organisations. The fund is a key part in Merton’s mission to become London’s first Borough of Sport: "a place where everyone – regardless of their age, background or ability – can enjoy accessible, inclusive and high-quality sports and physical activity.” The funding also aims to remove barriers to participation — especially for under-16s, women and girls, older adults and minority ethnicities. Check out some of the initiatives here.
🚑 Services were disrupted on the tram network after a car collided with a tram on Tuesday 26 August. The collision happened just after 3.30pm and led to four people being admitted to hospital. Three were taken to a local hospital, whilst the fourth victim went to a major trauma centre for further treatment. Read more about the incident here.
Property of the week 🏡
This isn’t one of our usual mansions, but it’s still a lovely “little” property. This three-bedroom semi-detached home bang in the heart of Wimbledon’s town centre is a steal. I’m particularly fond of the Blockbuster sign above the bed — talk about a throwback! I also enjoy its open-plan layout over two floors. And for £1.15m, this home could be yours. Check out more pictures here.

The best new spots in Wimbledon 🍾
It’s been a while since The Wimble has showcased a variety of new openings in Wimbledon. So here are some of the best new spots that have opened since April.
Amorino — Wimbledon Quarter
The artisanal gelateria that took over the world — or at least Western Europe. Although the company was founded in France in 2002, Amorino offers gelatos and sorbets made in the Italian tradition. There is everything from ice creams, sundaes, sorbets and gelato macaroons to crepes, waffles, hot drinks and Italian pastries. Just check out their rave Google Reviews here.
Last Bite — 164 The Broadway, Wimbledon, SW19 1RX
If smash burgers are your thing, then this is your place. Last Bite have burst onto Wimbledon’s food scene and are offering your classic burger joints, from chilli burgers to crispy chicken tenders.
Søstrene Grene — 51 The Broadway, London SW19 1QD
With their maze layout, Søstrene Grene feels like a swankier Ikea. They have everything: furniture, kitchenware, gardening accessories, crafts, travel accessories and even children’s toys. New products are released weekly, so make sure to pop in on a regular basis.
Hotel Chocolat — Wimbledon Quarter
If you haven’t been to a Hotel Chocolat before, then you’re really missing out. This particular Hotel Chocolat also contains a Velvetiser Café where the team will craft your drinking chocolate just the way you like it. Whilst it may not be the cheapest of chocolate stores, their chocolate is certainly worth it.
Aldi — 4 Wimbledon Bridge, SW19 7NW
What can I say? Aldi is Aldi: great value for money. Perhaps I’m slightly more loyal to Lidl because there’s one near my house, but Aldi still does the trick. A nice addition to Wimbledon’s town centre!
Oseyo — Unit 4-5, 29 The Broadway, London SW19 1PS
Oseyo is the largest Asian supermarket retailer in the UK, focusing on bringing Korean and other Asian foods, toys, stationery, houseware and electronics to the area. Check out their website here to get a feel for what they sell.
The Chunky Pigeon — 84 Kingston Rd, London SW19 1LA
Fast becoming one of Wimbledon’s coolest cafes, this retro spot is serving up everything from matcha lattes to big chunky chocolate chip cookies (the name is a bit of a giveaway). They also sell some very stylish merchandise. Check out their website and their bespoke curated playlists here.
So.Shell — Wimbledon Quarter
So.Shell is a beauty salon specialising in Ukrainian manicure techniques. They offer a variety of treatments: manicures, pedicures, and nail extensions, as well as professional makeup and lash and brow styling. And for those in a rush, they also offer a “six-hand service” where multiple specialists work simultaneously, allowing you to finish the procedure in a timely manner.
Yayhouse — 330 Kingston Rd, Wimbledon Chase, London SW20 8LR
Another very cool, very hip cafe, Yayhouse is already making waves in the local area. With their specialist coffee and baked goods, Yayhouse is a great addition to the local community. They also host the occasional supper club, so keep your eyes on their Instagram for future events.
Love Sushi & Ramen — 8 The Broadway, London SW19 1RF
I’m a sucker for a good bowl of ramen, so this place has already gone to the top of my list. Love Sushi & Ramen was already established as a go-to ramen spot in London before their Wimbledon launch, which makes having them here all the more special. From fresh nigiri and classic rolls to comforting bowls of tonkotsu ramen, you’re in for a treat whatever you order.
Caddi Club Wimbledon — Wimbledon Quarter (top floor)
Golf, anyone? Caddi Club is the golf club on your doorstep. Oh, and it’s inside — which is great now that summer is over and London’s capricious weather has decided to take Autumn to mean pouring down with rain. There are some great perks at Caddi Club, so make sure to check out their website for deals if golfing is your thing.
Question of the week 🔍
Last week, I asked you what was leaked into the Wandle on the 18 February 2025. The answer: Diesel.
