We have an e-bike parking bay in our street, but people still leave the bikes in inappropriate places. I’m sick of them littering the streets. People also leave them on the footpath in my local park. They’re a menace.

I agree with Edward. We should definitely be encouraging the use of all types of bikes. They have many advantages It is a healthier form of transport for the rider and the air quality. Fewer cars on the roads will have many benefits. They do however need to be better planned for and managed. I think this problem was entirely foreseeable. The AELTC needs to give over some of its car parking to bike parking

We should be encouraging this means of transport in Wimbledon. They are such a useful way to travel but they should only be allowed to be parked in designated bays and there should be tougher penalties for cycling on the pavement and through red lights. Helmets should be mandatory.

Sine Merton council introduced parking bays, the situation in my area has improved a lot and I don’t see bikes strewn around anymore. But I did pass by AELTC last weekend and the situation there was very bad, with bicycles blocking roads and a lone worker trying to sort them out. As a short-term solution, more workers with lorries for collecting bicycles during the days of the championship would help. As a long-term solution, the parking bays should have a capacity limit set up on the back-end so that a user can not end their trip if the bay is at limit. Outright banning dockless bikes because of parking issues during the championship seems unreasonable. At a limit, if the situation can’t be improved in other ways, maybe they could implement an exclusion zone around AELTC to disincentivise people using dockless bikes for going to the championship.

I’m all for healthy travel alternatives but am sick of them. I’ve nearly been hit so many times by them going through red lights, riding on pavements and zooming round corners. If I was older and frailer, I’d have been in hospital or worse by now. There are plenty of options in our area - legs to walk, buses, tubes, trains…
